You Need To Master

Introduction:

These 5 Airsoft Training Drills will boost up your airsoft gaming experience as a newbie

For those of you thinking you will start playing airsoft or are facing problems while playing airsoft, need one common thing. Practice. Yes, like any other sport, we all need to practice to become good at it.

Some people are good from the go, but others, like us, are not that good from the beginning. Training drills are the only way to get used to the whole thing and get good if possible. So let’s begin, shall we? Yes, we shall.

First of all, training drills are good for everyone. Doesn’t matter if you are quite used to airsoft or you just began to play recently. Airsoft training drills will definitely improve your skills in the field.

1. Getting used to

The first thing you need to do is getting used to with your outfit. If you are new to airsoft and are not used to with the accessories and weapons, you are not going to play much well. So, pick your desired outfit and follow these simple steps.

Setting the Drill Up

1. Suit up

Suit up properly. Your helmet, goggles, boot knee pad (if you need) everything you would wear in an actual match.

2. Pick up your weaponry

Pick up your primary weapon. Then, the secondary weapon and ammo. Take just as much ammo you would need in an actual match. It would make you get used to with the weight.

3. Run 10 steps forward

Now take 10 quick steps forward with your weapons and everything. You can move around. Take a quick left or right or wherever you want. The goal is to getting habituated with the movement.

4. Look around and take a position

Take a position. Sit down on one knee, or lay on the ground. Act like, you have found your opponent and quickly aim at him with your primary weapon.

Do this for a few times. This will get you used to with your suit and weapons.

Situation

You get into airsoft for the first time with your weapons and suits. But, as the suit and the accessories are new, and you are new to this, you would get uncomfortable from the beginning. On the other hand, if you practice these airsoft training drills, it will help you to blend in and get used to with them.

2. Airsoft Shooting Drill

The main or basic activity of any type of airsoft game is to shoot. So, shooting drill is far more important than any other drills you would ever try. By practicing shooting drill, you will get to improve your shooting accuracy of close-range and long-range.

3. Airsoft Reaction Drill

Reaction time is one of the fundamental things to improve if you want to get better at airsoft. Decrease your reaction time by practicing more and more reaction drill. If you practice enough eventually you will get your reaction time much much improved.

Setting the Drill Up

  1. Suit up.
  2. Aim at your opponent quickly.
  3. Drop your primary weapon.
  4. Pick up your secondary weapon.
  5. Aim with your secondary weapon quickly.

Situation

You and your enemy, you both see each other at the same time. But, due to your slow reaction time, you might get shot earlier. So, practice and practice until your reaction time gets improves.

4. Airsoft Reloading Drill

Playing airsoft is really not all about shooting. There are a lot of other important things to focus on to. Like, reloading your primary and secondary weapons. If you take too much time to reload your weapon, you might get shot before you even finish reloading.

So, you better practice and decease your reloading time. And the only way you can do that is by practicing a lot of reloading drills.

Setting the Drill Up

  1. Suit up properly.
  2. Pick your suitable primary rifle.
  3. Pick 3 or 4 magazines with only 2 or 3 rounds of BB.
  4. Aim and fire at your target.
  5. After finishing the few rounds left in the magazine, quickly drop it.
  6. Pick another magazine and load it in the rifle.
  7. Now repeat the process: aim, fire, drop the magazine, pick another one, load it, aim and shoot.

You may ask, why we are only keeping 2 or 3 rounds in the magazine. But, trust me, it helps a lot. It helps you to get used to with reloading mechanism and get faster at it.

Situation

In Airsoft, there is absolutely no way that you won’t run out of ammunition. If you shoot, your bbs will run out sooner or later and you will have to reload. Imagine you are in the middle of a fight, the enemies are pushing and suddenly you drop your magazine and lose your precious time. To avoid this kind of situation and get habituated with reloading, you must practice this drill.

5. Airsoft CQB Training Drills

Close quarter combats are very different from the outdoor airsoft games. Therefore, the airsoft training drills that would make you better, are a bit different. For example, room clearing drills.

a) Room clearing tactics

In a CQB airsoft game, you would have to go through certain areas or rooms and clear them out. Clearing means, taking a position and eliminating enemies at close range fights. There are 2 types of room clearing popular.

b) Aggressive room clearing

Aggressive room-clearing involves a large number of team members to rush inside a room together. They confront the enemies and clears the room. As the name suggests, it is an aggressive tactic and causes a heavy casualty. But it is a popular tactic.

c) Tactical room clearing

I like this plan of action. It is effective, requires less manpower and it causes few casualties if applied correctly.

Military training with airsoft guns

Are airsoft weapons used in military training?

The simple answer to this question is no.

Army or marine do not use airsoft weapons in their military training. They use real guns and simunition instead. So basically there are 3 reasons for why the military does not use airsoft weapons in their combat training. They are

a) Kickback

In airsoft, there is almost no kickback while shooting an enemy. Or should I say the kickback is so tiny that the shooter does not notice it? It is because there is no gun powder involved here. Airsoft guns fire bbs using electricity, gas power or the spring power. So, there is a significant difference between the real gun and the airsoft guns.

However, some of the airsoft guns company provides a kickback system in their guns to make it more realistic. But it only decreases the reliability. The only exception might be the Tokyo Marui AEG.

b) Recoil

Recoiling is also a feature of a real firearm. Obviously, it decreases the shooting accuracy. So, when it comes to real weapons, the manufacturers want to reduce it as much possible. The airsoft guns do not have to recoil for the same reason. However, some of the airsofters want the realistic feel of it. So, they customize themselves for the recoil. And some of the brands do provide that too. But it is nothing spectacular and hampers your airsoft gaming experience.

c) Accuracy

Airsoft guns are somewhat pretty accurate while shooting in close range. But their shooting accuracy drastically falls when the range increases. Though, the sniper rifles are a bit more accurate than the assault rifles at long range. However, the accuracy depends on Bernoulli’s principle, Newton’s 3rd law of motion and the wind movement. As the airsoft shots are nowhere near as fast as the original ammunition, they tend to move quite drastically and becomes less accurate. The lower the fps is, the accuracy decreases just as much.

So, the next question is quite obvious. Do the veterans dislike airsoft? Or do they play airsoft at all?

The answer is no, they don’t dislike airsoft. It is quite the contrary. And yes many of the veterans play and enjoy airsoft just as much. In fact, you will find tons of videos on YouTube on ‘ex-military plays Airsoft’ key phrase.

All the Airsoft training drills must be performed with full gears

And last but not least, you should always practice and perform these airsoft drills wearing your outfits on. You should carry your primary weapon, sidearm, magazines all the usual stuff with you. It will make you get used to with your stuff.
